My So Called Life: "The Zit" Recap

This episode was a lot different than some of the previous ones. It wasn't about Jordan or the parents, but instead about how those little insecurities you had in high school never fully go away. And for once, I'm going to say that I didn't mind Patty's storyline. It provided the perfect balance to Angela.

Once again, Claire Danes's acting is spot on. I loved how the zit on her face was all-consuming. She couldn't stop looking at it, touching it, obsessing over it. So real. Especially for someone in high school.

And then the list. Oh, the list couldn't have come at a worse time. Poor Angela isn't on it, but both Sharon and Rayanne both make the cut. I'm not sure I'd be as happy as Rayanne for being labeled 'biggest potential slut',but it seems to make her day.

Sharon, on the other hand, isn't as happy. It's interesting how Angela is upset she didn't make the list, but then Sharon is upset she did. Moral of the story - no one is ever completely happy with themselves, so you just have to suck it up and move on with life.

Unless you're Patty's other daughter. In that case you need to don your best fake flowers and crimped hair and work that runway!

QUOTE OF THE EPISODE:
Rayanne: So Krakow, how come you never ask me over anymore?
Jordan : She wants you, man, go for it.

RANDOM THOUGHTS
  • I don't get how Angela didn't make the list. Only a few episodes ago, every guy in school wanted to get with her because of the note someone passed around.
  • I'm glad Sharon stood up for herself like that.
  • I like the friendship blooming between Ricky and Krakow. They both serve as some great comic relief.
  • I'm hoping Angela and Sharon can put their differences aside and become friends again. Maybe not best friends, but something.
