Book Review - Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and the French Kiss Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris—until she meets Étienne St. Claire: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.

I finished this book over the weekend in record time. I think it took me a total of about 10 hours start to finish. I'm glad I waited to review it, otherwise the review would probably just look like this:

OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO READ IT!!!!!!!

Fortunately for you, I've had some time to let the book sink in and now I can give you a rational review.

This is one of those books you can't put down when you pick it up. You NEED to know what happens with Anna and Etienne. What? If you don't believe me, just go ask John Green.

The characters are so well written and realistic that I felt like I was reading about old friends instead of characters someone made up. They made me laugh (A LOT), they made me mad (equally as much) and most of all they made me happy!

While I'm talking about characters, let's talk about Etienne St. Clair. Back in August I read The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. I was pretty sure no character would come close to what I felt for Joe Fontaine, but I was dead wrong. Etienne St. Clair has everything Joe has, and an English accent. (Sorry Joe, but you can't compete with that. And no, I don't care that you speak French, because so does Etienne! Ha!) If Etienne were real, I'd consider leaving my husband for him. (Not really - Okay maybe I would).

Enough about Etienne, because I could probably go on forever. Let's talk about the setting. Perkins has every detail of Paris down. I was there on my honeymoon, but she still managed to make me believe I was experiencing the city for the first time. It felt almost magical. It even inspired author Lindsey Leavitt to move there.

I'd say this is probably the best book I've read all year. I loved it from beginning to end and I hated sending it away to its next stop on the ARC tour that Jessica set up. I almost photocopied the scenes I loved the most so I didn't have to give them up!

If this didn't convince you to go out to the store and buy the book right away, read reviews from the rest of my writing group - Shana , Heather, Crystal, Becca and Tameka

Special Thanks to Jessica for sending out her book. I can't imagine how hard it was to be apart from it for so long!!

Anna and the French Kiss is available for purchase on Amazon.
