Are you a slob?

I admit it, I am a very messy person. The only reason that I periodically clean is because I'm totally skeeved out by bugs. This past weekend we did a deep clean of our house, including the two chores that I loathe: dishes and laundry.

So what does this have to do with writing? Well, I by-pass these chores so that I have more time to write. I don't mind if my desk is cluttered with coffee mugs if it means 15 extra minutes with my word doc.

Ultimately, I think not cleaning has a negative impact on my writing though. Instead of spending a few minutes a night tidying up, I spent my ENTIRE day cleaning yesterday. That meant no revising at all on a day where I could have spent hours with my manuscript.

After this weekend's clean-a-palooza, my husband and I both vowed that we will clean up after ourselves during the week. Hopefully this will result in more writing for me and more video games for him!

  1. I don't know. I hate having a messy room, but I'm just too messy to do anything about it. I don't get bugs in my room, except for the occasional cockroach (usually only in the summer-- oh, how I loathe those things!). However, it's a danger hazard when I walk around in my room in the dark.

Good luck with keeping it all clean. :)
