Top Ten Tuesday - Tunes

With NaNo coming up, I thought I'd share some of the music I'm digging right now. You see, I need to have music on to write my first draft. Otherwise I'll probably die or evaporate or maybe I'll just end up with some intense writer's block. All of those seem pretty dire to me.

Ten Songs to Jam Out to While Drafting (Part 1)
  • You Will Leave a Mark - Silent Film
I love the piano in this song. It's so fun and makes me want to dance around.

  • Dog Days are Over - Florence & the Machine
When I first heard the name of this band, I thought, what a weird name. Once I heard this song, I didn't care what they called themselves. This song is great music, plain and simple.

  • Animal - Neon Trees
This song is seriously addictive. I think I listened to it 10 times while writing this post.

    Purchase the song
  • Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
This song is kind of different. I love the lead singer's voice. Very soothing. But the video...holy destruction, Batman!

  • My Best Theory - Jimmy Eat World
After a pretty long hiatus, one of my favorite bands is back. This is their newest single.

    Buy the song
  • Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
Another addictive song. I can't help but so a little jig when I hear this song. Can't wait to hear more from this band. *WARNING - Video has strong language*

    Buy the song
  • Closer to the Edge - 30 Seconds to Mars
It's Jared Leto, people - with a mohawk!

    Buy the song
  • At or With Me - Jack Johnson
When I first heard this song on the radio, I dug it, but then I saw the video and I loved it even more. If you only watch one video in this post, let this be the one. It has Andy Samberg in it - that's all I'm sayin'.

    Buy the song
  • Scissor Runner - Jenny and Johnny
I love Jenny Lewis so it was a no brainer that I'd pick up her newest release. Normally she sings in a band called Rilo Kiley, but this record is a compilation with her beau Johnathan Rice.

    Buy the song
  • Eclipse (All Yours) - Metric
Rock bands with girls in them are awesome. For a long time everything I listened to was very male-centric. I love Emily Haines's voice. For some reason you can only buy this song if you buy the whole Eclipse movie soundtrack, so I'll link you to Metric's Amazon page if you want to check out more of their music.

Sorry, I can't embed the video either. So click here if you want to see it!

  4. I really can't listen to music while I write..it distracts me for some reason. When I do listen to music while writing though, I usually listen to John Mayer.

  5. I loved My Best Theory but didn't think the rest of the album lived up to that song, sadly.

I love Metric. Have you heard Black Sheep from the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack? It is my favorite song of theirs!

  6. Elizabeth - No, I haven't heard that yet. I didn't know they had a song in that movie.

Jessica - John Mayer is good stuff! I love his music, too. I sometimes find myself cranking up Room for Squares on my way home from work and jamming out.
