Waiting on Wednesday - When Rose Wakes

Waiting on Wednesday was started by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The idea is to pick a book that hasn't been released yet that you can't wait to read.

This week my pick is When Rose Wakes by Christopher Golden.

When Rose Wakes
Release Date: September 28, 2010

Amazon Summary: Ever since sixteen-year-old Rose DuBois woke up from months in a coma with absolutely no memories, she’s had to start from scratch. She knows she loves her two aunts who take care of her, and that they all used to live in France, but everything else from her life before is a blank.Rose tries to push through the memory gaps and start her new life, attending high school and living in Boston with her aunts, who have seriously old world ideas. Especially when it comes to boys. But despite their seemingly irrational fears and odd superstitions, they insist Rose not worry about the eerie dreams she’s having, vivid nightmares that she comes to realize are strangely like the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. The evil witch, the friendly fairies, a curse that puts an entire town to sleep—Rose relives the frightening story every night. And when a mysterious raven-haired woman starts following her, Rose begins to wonder if she is the dormant princess. And now that she’s awake, she’s in terrible, terrible danger.

I've read a few retellings and I love the concept. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

    1. I can't wait for this book either! Christopher Golden never fails to deliver intriguing stories with intelligent characters, plus I love retold fairy tales. (Have you read his book Straight on 'til Morning? It is a retelling of Peter Pan, and it is FABULOUS!)

    2. This is one of my WoW picks too!

    3. I want to pretend: I haven't read the blurb, I haven't put the book on my wishlist after reading the blurb and I haven't seen that this is a fairytale - retelling... WoW will be the reason for the explosion of my wishlist ><

Ah, thanks for the recommendation @Little Willow: And I have a another book to mention, too. Do you like Peter Pan-retellings? Maybe you know this book? Here's a summery for you:

      Brom - The Child Thief

Fourteen-year-old Nick would have been murdered by the drug dealers preying on his family had Peter not saved him. Now the irresistibly charismatic wild boy wants Nick to follow him to a secret place of great adventure, where magic is alive and you never grow old. Even though he is wary of Peter's crazy talk of faeries and monsters, Nick agrees. After all, New York City is no longer safe for him, and what more could he possibly lose?

There is always more to lose.

    4. It's put on my TBR list without a moment hesitancy. Great recommend!

      Here's my WOW

    5. This sounds pretty interesting. I haven't read a retelling lately but Sisters Red is on my TBR list and now, so is this
