Top Ten Tuesday - Beautiful Covers

Hey everyone! It's Tuesday, so that means another top ten list.

Before I get to it, I just want to breathe one huge sigh of relief. The busy season at my day job is finally over and I can relax again. Now I'll be able to get back into a regular posting schedule on this blog, and a more regular writing schedule. You have NO IDEA how hard it is to squeeze writing sessions in when I'm getting home from work after midnight every night. If we're being honest here, I haven't touched my WIP in over a week and a half! Can't wait to get back on track.

Anyway, let's talk about something more fun that work, now: Amazing Book Covers!

  1. Fall for Anything - Courtney Summers
Fall for AnythingAnyone who reads this blog probably already knows that I adore Courtney Summers. Fall for Anything doesn't come out until later this year, but I LOVE this cover. It's a departure from the look of her last two covers, but according to Courtney, it is a perfect fit for the novel.
Why I Love it: There is so much to look at. The pictures being developed in the background are interesting in themselves. It looks to me like the girl is consumed with the activity. Maybe to get her mind off her father's suicide?

  2. The Replacement - Brenna Yovanoff
The ReplacementThe Replacement is about a changeling boy who must decide whether he wants to go back to the people who replaced him, or if he wants to stay with the family he grew up with.
Why I Love it:This cover just plain creeps me out. Sharp objects hanging precariously over a carriage like that send chills down my spine. What sort of child is inside?

  3. Matched - Ally Condie
MatchedThis book is just amazing. I was lucky enough to win an arc from Shannon Messenger and while the cover is awesome, the story is even better. Look for my review on Saturday.
Why I Love it: It's so simple, it's perfect. I love when a book cover uses muted colors and one bright one. It grabs my attention. Plus, the green dress the girl is wearing is in the story, so you get that extra "a ha!" moment as you're reading.

  4. Sisters Red - Jackson Pearce
Sisters RedAnother great book to go with a great cover. Little Red Riding Hood, if Red was two sisters who could totally kick ass.
Why I Love it: Not only does it fit the story, but there are a few different ways to look at it. First you see the sister with the red hair, the the one with dark hair. Then when you refocus, you see the wolf.

  5. Bad Taste in Boys - Carrie Harris
Why I Love It: Whoa...don't you just want to kiss this cover? The lips are so tempting. They take up the almost the whole cover, so it's impossible not to focus on them.

  6. The Luxe Series - Anna Godberson
The Luxe Rumors: A Luxe Novel (The Luxe)
Envy: A Luxe Novel (The Luxe) Splendor: A Luxe Novel (The Luxe)

Why I Love It: These books have the most lustworthy dresses I've ever seen. Even my wedding dress wasn't this luxurious. Who wouldn't feel like a princess in one of these?

  7. You Wish - Mandy Hubbard
You WishWhy I Love It: How cute is this cover? It tells me all I need about the story to want to read it. First of all, it's pink, so I'm sold. Second, it's got a cupcake. Nothing more on this. It's all I want in a book cover.

  8. The Dark Divine - Bree Despain
The Dark DivineWhat I Love About It: When I look at this cover, I imagine the girl floating. It makes me feel light and airy. The contrast between the black background and purple wrap are so vibrant.

  9. Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins
Anna and the French KissWhat I Love About It: My husband and I spent three days in Paris as part of our honeymoon, so any book that has the Eiffel Tower on it will hold a special place in my heart. I love that the guy is cut off. It makes me wonder if it's a sexy Parisian or a tourist.

  10. Across the Universe - Beth Revis
Across the UniverseWhat I Love About It: Oh man, this cover perfectly illustrates the "almost kiss". It makes me want to read the book right now and find out if the kiss ever happens!

  2. I don't know about my own favorite covers but I design each book cover in my head as I'm writing. It's fun and has actually helped center the story.

  3. Good point, though sometimes it's hard to arrive to definite conclusions
